Not all the videos on my YouTube channel and the other contents I upload online are readily available to everyone. I had to keep some of them out of public eye for obvious reasons. Most of these otome/joseimuke games that these contents are from are no longer officially available, so I'm trying to archive them (I'd also like to avoid directly addressing the titles here). There're also J-pop contents, mostly from the artists and groups of LDH JAPAN. Join my Discord server from the link below to get access to them.

I misss DConan TTT sigh… what anime y’all watching? I’m open to recs✨ (better chance if it has a manga)
My preferences; pls no shade or hate! :/
-cute girls!! Cute chars in general 👍💕
-sol, soft, cute and funny, romcom, moe/Manga time Kirara stuff?, harem(1 guy, lots of girls) tbh are nice but if they have drama, some sort of gripping plot it’d be great too 👍✨I like mysteries but I think I already /know/ them all gkskvka
-good music tbh. Op/ed bop but bgm would be nice too. Music themed animes(idols ect) usually good,, scary if it has a gacha game tho… 😶💦
-Not airing anime. I like to finish them asap. Airing anime’s automatically go onto list which I more often than not never get around to…
-ecchi is ok but pls no weird fetish stuff(hènsuki ect) Not h*ntai. Not even vanilla stuff.
-I’m not into NTR :/ love triangles(or more) depends… Cheating and/or abusive relationships are a no-no for me tho.
-I find mecha kinda boring so ,, unless it’s a tiny amount included then, pass. Majority of shounen series I have 0 interest in. They’re uncute lol
-shoujo is hit or miss. Usually I’m not that interested tho, especially if it’s joshimuke/reverse harem. They have adorable girls but 🥹usually only 1-2(if lucky).
-lgbt stuff(especially yuri) I’m usually ok with? I prefer if it’s a cute and happy story. I feel like ik most Yuris which have anime’s by now tho.
-feel free to drop Rec anyway ig..? 🤔always worth trying, I’d be happy to listen to anyone saying why they love what they love ^^
#Kanna rambles#anime rec#Kanna’s no-Conan challenge#looking for anime recs#no shade tho :/#anime#most of the ppl on this site are nice.. right? one fear >u> I doubt this will even be seen but TT

FINALLY VIL OVERBLOTS AND PROVES THAT CALLING HIM MEAN GIRL IS THE EXACT THING YOU SHOULD NOT DO
this essay here explains perfectly why he overblot, as he is becoming the mean girls people in and out universe trying to make him be. And let’s be real, the fact that people do have prejudice that “elegant beauty” type of people , with the mindset of “you care so much about your look/do so much beauty care, then you must be a superficial bitch is and your looks is all there is to you” , all in all, realistic. ” when TW is actively trying to disprove this. Yes, its a bishie fest joshimuke. But it’s also still very psychological, on point social and deep (and even have psychological horror). TW keep disproving that good looks/fanservice bait means lack of depth, be it in the plot or the character.
It also proves the point that the actor is not the same as the character. Tom Felton is not Malfoy, Tom Hiddleston is not Loki, heck, Hanae Natsuki is no Riddle, this is obvious , yes, but you know out there many people think otherwise. Vil’s problem maybe not relatable, but still realistic.
Yes, Pomefiore is the dorm based on the beautiful queen . Yes, beauty matters. but it’s not the only thing that matters. Pomefiore has proves itself thru the story that it’s not the fight you pick, it’s the method, and I’ll say this again, that in Pomefiore, everything you can use to your advantage is beautiful, and beauty is power. Therefore everything is power.
Despite his statement of beauty is the most solid form of power is, Vil still doesn’t slack in the academic and physical aspects. If we reverse his mindset that beauty is power, that power is beautiful, he is comparable to those meritocratic ruler where one thinks the ones who filled the role or rise to power should be those who are capable to fill the role, not only in being pretty, but also smart, skillful and strong. Vil even has quote that true beauty did come from intelligence.
This also explains why Epel grinds his gear so much. Epel pressed a lot of his buttons at once, from being prejudiced/sexist “feminine people must be weak” despite literally handing him his ass multiple times, refusing the idea beauty is power, and cute and adored but ungrateful about his assets. I don’t think Vil see himself in Epel, more like he see, of all people, Leona in Epel. Leona has even more assets in him (ranging from his magic, intelligence, physical power as beastmen, etc) but refuses to hone them, not exactly grateful about his possession of them-at least, not according to Vil. in Vil’s book, the most gratitude you can show about your assets is to properly hone them.
If anything, Vil see himself in Deuce. Like no matter how hard Vil works, he couldn’t top Neige, no matter how hard Deuce do he just can’t be smarter than Ace, who is cunning and probably also more booksmart than him as well, and Deuce know that as well. Deuce even tell Vil to his face that they have worked hard, but Vil as well Deuce himself knows best that hard work does not always pays-, that’s why Vil was so upset with Deuce telling him that. On the other hand, this is, exactly why Vil openly congratulate him despite boy literally just beat the crap out of him. To say Vil is as obsessed with growth and hard work as much as he is with beauty is no exaggeration, however he will openly congratulate those who did grew with their hard work like with Epel or Kalim/Jamil in Fairy gala.
By the way, consider this: Vil finally lost it when his years of hardwork prove to be unfruitful. He has been believing beauty is power as much hard work should have pay since he was a child, probably it has been more for a decade, with bonus a prejudice on top of all of that. Only recently Deuce trying to be better person, to see power in intelligence ,to believe that hard work always pay, only to be topped in by Ace and many more in NRC despite not working as hard. Imagine all the stress if if it has been long Deuce believed hard work always pays.
I’m not going to argue that Vil is a selfless man, as indeed even if his “help” benefits him in a way, like telling Leona to be less lazy and to Epel to see cuteness as power is practically shoving his ideology over other’s throat, that he still benefit from it yes, but the point is that he’s actually the least bitch,if not perhaps most beneficial to others , or even most reasonable of other great seven incarnate so far, yes, despite being the Local Elegant Pretty Boy.. Riddle’s rules are often unreasonable, Leona would insult anyone to feed his superiority inferiority complex, Azul is scammy, Jamil is backstabbing , Idia is textbook gatekeeping otaku that actively insults everyone like Leona, even if he has special contempt for extroverts, hardworkers, and “normies”, while unlike Leona, he isn’t exactly able to hold his insults and is textbook internet toxic that hides behind the screen, when Malleus is petty as well and isn’t exactly the most effective leader as he also leaves a lot of his prefect job on Lilia.
Yes, this is written with bias for Vil. I will admit that before finishing this , but still, this game trying to convey plenty of messages, but ofc ppl conveniently ignores it, because uwu fanservice games. And of course, it goes back to Vil, despite the clear fleshing all over the personal stories will “only be uwu poisoner mean girl” for haters, and that, despite all his hate for prejudice for “elegant people are bitchy”, he too is prejudiced at the idea “showing emotion /leaning to others is sign of weakness”, or even if people will still be prejudiced and call him mean girl despite all of this, canon or analyses otherwise, but I still want to say this.

...................... I’m always excited for Magoichi, I dunno how I forgot to add him to my list. Also, with KoiRoma existing, I have to update 10 posts now, joy joy.
For those who are new: I’ve been collecting Sengoku characters from otome and joshimuke games. Romantic gacha games like Akaseka also counts. I only post characters who has 2 appearances in 2 different games. I list both romanceable and non romanceables, and also from defunct/dead games.

Note: I got this question in a message and I think I should post it.
Hello! I wanted to ask a question about definition of 'otome' and 'joshimuke' in regards to mobile games like A3!, Ayakashi RR, MM, MLQC, Obey Me, and similar rhythm/card gacha-type games. I'm confused about which games are considered otome, and which are not but still contain otome elements. Could you please elaborate on what makes a game otome, and how to differentiate between them and other otome-like games?
------
A joseimuke is female-targeted media. So, any game where the target audience are females fit this category. This includes: otome and boy's love/yaoi.
An otome game is when there is explicit romance between the heroine (female) and a male love interest and there is a story that focuses on their relationship that ends when the heroine and this love interest get together.
Now there are games that contain otome elements that are not otome. They are games referred to as rhythm, card-collecting, idol-raising, actor-training, and other simulation games. Otome elements are usually exclusively male cast flirting with the female player, which I include: touching, holding hands, kissing (rare), ect. A good rule of thumb to figure out if the game you are playing is an otome game is if there are routes in the game, i.e. stories that focus on one love interest and the heroine. So, while some games have flirting/romance locked into the card that you then have to grind to unlock to read the story, the fact that there is no character focused routes in the game is how you know you are not playing an otome game.
As far as I have seen, most games where card collecting is an important part of gameplay are not otome games because they don't fit the category of explicit love + happy ending, usually they have an on-going storyline that never branches into routes. The exception to this is Ayakashi Romance Reborn where, in the Lovers Books, the heroine gets together with the person who's book you are reading.
So, games that have otome elements but are not otome include:
A3! (actor-training) Utano Princesama Shining Live (rhythm, the mobile game) Ensemble Stars (idol-raising) Idolish7 (rhythm game) Mr. Love Queen's Choice (social simulation) Obey Me (card-collecting from what I've been told. I've also been told the MC is purposefully not gendered, so one could play them as a male)
Notice how they are all games where card-collecting is a major part of gameplay.
I have started adding these types of games, when they come out in English, by their main gameplay type and joseimuke. I am also starting to make it a point to label games that are otome as such on their game page so there is no confusion going forward.
And, for the record, and this one is NOT up for debate, boy's love/yaoi games are NOT otome games. Full stop. I’ve seen some people try to argue they are. They aren’t. These people are wrong. As stated above, they ARE joseimuke because, as odd as this is about to sound, BL is a genre that is made for women. Yeah, I know, it makes zero sense, but that’s why they are marketed towards women.
Updated to specify that a love interest in an otome game is exclusively male.

Is Utapri still considered a reverse harem?
Hmm, hard to say. Long answer incoming, so thanks for waiting for a response. Depends on the media and how you differentiate otome, reverse harem, and joshimuke/joseimuke (games aimed at women). Heres a reddit post i found with a discussion on the differences between otome and joshimuke. It references idol franchises specifically, so maybe give that a read. It also links here which is another good read.
To sum up:
Otome - Media with a female lead with a focus on romantic relationships. Joshimuke - an umbrella term for anything aimed at women. this could include otome media as well as things like hypmic (many male characters but no romance), shoujo manga/anime and many bl titles.Reverse Harem - Can often overlap with otome, but reverse harem has multiple characters all going for the same character at once with all seeming like equally likely options. You’ll find some otome games with special ‘harem’ ends that you unlock separately.
-----------------------
Many male idol raising/rhythm games like ensemle stars or A3 are not otome games as although they may include some similarites, as long as it doesnt have strong emphasis on a romance with a female protagonist it cannot be considered otome or reverse harem. Instead, these games would be joshimuke, so, targeted at a primarilly female audience.
When it comes to Shining Live specifically, I would say it definitely isnt reverse harem or otome, but joshimuke. As mentioned in one of those links though, it can be hard to define utapri. Since it is one of, if not the longest running male idol franchise, it has gone through a lot of changes over time.
It certainly started as an otome franchise, but over 10 years, not only to cater to a wider audience, but also to keep the series going without an easilly reachable end goal (specifically, a romantic end game.) Since there are so many different aspects of the franchise, I suppose you could give them each different genres or categorisations.
Visual novels - obviously otome since they have a focus on romance. I wouldn’t consider them reverse harem because they only focus on one boy at a time.
Anime - again hard to say since it begins with some hints of romance, but since they never go anywhere i’d say reverse harem or joshimuke? This complicates further since Haruka has seemingly slowly been phased out of the franchise. She began as an audience substitute with hints at romance with the boys, but over time became more of a manager and composer for them.
You obviously couldn’t call Maji Love kingdom otome or reverse harem since haruka isnt present.
Manga - I havent read the manga so I can’t be sure, but i’s say either shoujo or reverse harem?
Shining Live - joshimuke. Not reverse harem or otome since theres no focus on romance and no female protagonist is involved. The player could be seen as such, but can also be projected on by everyone, not just women.
Music/lives etc - it’s less common to attatch these categorisations to music alone, but since it’s associated with the franchise, i guess they could be called joshimuke, but really, its just music.
In general, I’d say Utapri began as an otome franchise, but has slowly evolved over time into joshimuke. This of course could continue to change in the future, specifically with dolce vita or another season of the anime.

Lore Here: To me the only thing that could make a Female Yuu fit in is if Twst has a Spinoff where the schools are Co-Ed than an 1 Gender school. It would make her fit in since there female students she can interact with while still being friends with Ace and Deuce. And like I said, I prefer having female characters treated like normal people than an object of simping.
Not necessarily; as I just posted in an added note to a previous ask, Yuu is a special case in the world of Twisted Wonderland: They don't know where they are, they have nowhere to go, and since they manifested out of a coffin inside Night Raven College, and it's not like this is something that could happen to anyone by mistake, it is Crowley's responsibility as the Dean to figure out what happened, how it happened, and what they can do about it; figure out how to send Yuu back to their own world.
Like, a female Yuu might feel uncomfortable or lonely having no other girls to talk around but, again, this is one of those situations where It Is What It Is.
The game already breaks some patterns and norms and gives the guys personalities besides horny teen male character, so it's not like Yuu would suddenly be the focus of romantic attention; the cast seems to be more focused on things other than romance like their careers and such, and, I mean, look at how they failed with my girl Eliza lmao.

I think you are mistaking something here. The all male cast isn't male empowerment, but female empowerment in the meta level. Out universe. Back in the day, devs doesn't think women worth the market, that they shut down the women fandom instead (it happened back in Rurouni Kenshin days, that dev shut down the women fandom who simps for the mc, because back then devs thin women are just men's tool, with no money to spend on their own, to sit nice , be a doll or do housechores) . That they are admitting women are now people who have money of their own to spend , that they are profitable, worthy market to milk off their money, instead of just dolls to be pure,to admit women are people on their own who can be horny too, is also women empowerment in meta level.
The fact that this game make like 240KUSD in TWO YEARS , beating the likes of Final Fantasy Brave Exvius is proof that straight women is also big, profitable market , though men can be more profiting because how impulsive they are (you know the story of a man spending his vacation savings for his waifu in FFBE?Or some men make loans to spend for their waifus in other games? Yeaaaah, that)
The game is made by a woman who fetishize men , so the women audience can simp and objectify the boys. It was made by a woman, for women to simp men, again, it's women empowerment in the meta level.
It's what joshimuke stands for. It's game aimed for women, regardless it has dating element or not, when otome is strictly dating games for women. An otome definitely is a joshimuke but a joshimuke isn't always otome, as long the target market is women, it's a joshimuke. Like say, Free. that anime is joshimuke but not otome.
I can still complain that devs tends to make joshimuke have trashy gameplays is sexist, to say women have no interest in gameplay, but alas, looking at how people react to the difficulty of the minigames in part 6-2-2 I can't say the sexism lack base....
How do you tell the difference of a male power fantasy and female power fantasy? Simple, look no more to isekai genres.
Isekai genre for men tends to transport the mc to pseudo-medieval era, heavy on action, as well the definition of the "op" is always combat-related , be it directly or indirectly like summoning some creatures, and often, it has the "violence is the solution" formula often present in shonen mangas, as well usually based on JRPG roles and tropes. So basically like Epel. Epel is portrayal of those "violence is cool/solution to all problem" kind of guys , again, that's just so realistic personality of men.
Isekai genre for women tends to transport the mc to pseudo-victorian, with either the mc or the love interest are nobles, with the definition of OP isn't just in combat, but also, in politic ad wealth. The MC is often cunning and do their own political maneuvers, their fight is the "high class sesquipedialian cat fight" , shaming each other with political maneuvers and businesses, passive aggressive cat fight with eloquent language, those kind of stuff. Like those pro-slytherin fanfics who delves into the pureblood culture and customs and politic and called gryffindors are stupid to charge head on into problem and be so openly bold and absolutely lack tact and intellect? those are also written by women.
Besides, in terms of body type, men have power fantasy of being muscly and big, but women's preferred type of men is more like the bishie/ikemen/pretty boys type with slender bodies.
I get you are uncomfortable with the sexualization of women, but in my opinion, it's precisely for they are fictional characters, let them be. People have a lot of pent up feelings and imagination, and fiction is there for them to pent up. Men sexualizing fictional women? they are fictional, let them be, moreso if they do it in their own circle of fellow horny men. Men openly trash talk real women, or even do violence/sexism/sexual harrasment to real women? Now that's not okay. And it's not just about sexual stuff, but also violence. Guys playing fighting /shooting games? Fine. Guys actually involved in brawls that harmed themselves or in, worse, school shooting? not okay. Besides, just as mentioned before, women also sexualize men, horny people who vent to art is everywhere, no avoiding it as sex sells, moreso in gacha, it either sells waifu, husbando, or both, but if it doesn't sell horny, just the weapon, it's bound to fail.
Besides, personally I don' trust Japan with female empowerment. Isn't it saying that like 90% japanese female idols are cutesy kawaii moe ? when in Korea there are more variants in girlgroup be it goth, mature, elegant, tomboy etc? Like, if I want some female empowerment I wouldnt look at it in japanese works anymore and will look for it in korean works. Again, maybe it's just me.

Twst would've be more interesting if they include some other villain archetypes, my fav if either the pure evil or the sympathetic ones. Although IDK if the OB boys are considered sympathetic villains or maybe a few of them, however their actions doesn't seem to make them sympathetic to me.
It sounds like you simply want to simplify characters into black and white morality to me, and honestly? if you like that, that's fine. But sorry , TWST isn't made with that trope in mind. There were never shortage of simple black and white morality in fictional works, be it sunday morning cartoon, old video games, current or modern shonen, if you like that, go ahead and look for it, I wouldn't stop you. Just it's not what TWST is.
Sure, you can write a developed and yet still pure evil character , from how influential they are, how they are faced with their downfall, but problem is,it gives the connotation in order to be happy, you have to be this pure good hero beating the pure evil baddie, and that's.... not the moral we need.
What we need is that, life goes on, we need to be better people, your opponent is your own darkest side, and by facing them you grow into better people, as much you need to accept other people are other person, with their own issues , that they have bad sides as much good sides, that the are wrong as much the are right, and forgiveness and proper talk is also key to said growth, while also understand that forgiveness isn't the same as excusing, as well forgiveness is also given for your own sake, not for the one who did wrong' sake.
TWST isn't the only recent Disney examples of this style of story telling, recently we also have Onward, Encanto, and Turning Red. and man, does its a lesson everyone needs, to grow you don't have to face Super Evil Baddie, just face your own issues . Japanese examples also have Persona franchise. It's not that big enough to be it's own trope, but certainly there are other examples.
The boys are supposed to give you conflicted feelings, because not only they are conflicted themselves, they are indeed, on that gray morality, they are not being nice for the sake for it,nor they are evil for the sake of it, they are just doing things they like. Just.... teenagers being teenagers. We were all stupid and cringe during those days, and we become better by also learning what is cringe and overrated and what is healthy interest. Cringe is fine as long it's still on healthy limit!
Again, I understand if maybe you're tired of dealing with real people, that you want simple cute anime boys to simp at, but sorry, twst charaters aren't that simple. Other than there are loads of black and white morality, there are also other joshimuke like touken ranbu , really , searching isn't hard if yaknow what to look for, especially in these modern days.
